Blackline is an enterprise-level, data-driven financial application that is used by some of the biggest companies in the world to automate their financial close process.
I first joined Blackline in 2015 and helped redesign the application leading up to their IPO in 2016. Since then, I have had the opportunity to work on initiating their first global styleguide, designing custom animations, ideating a brand new compliance product, financial dashboards, an automation and workflow product, financial statements, template builder, logic builder, connector marketplace and various other projects.

Dashboards
Designed the entire UX and UI patterns for custom, data-driven dashboards.
Animations
Designed custom animations as part of the global navigation redesign.
Automation
Prototyped a new automation product that enables users to create custom workflows to automate their financial close process.
Logic Builder
An easy way to build and reuse logic throughout the application.
Compliance
In today’s increasingly complex operating and regulatory environment, the expectations around audit and control management are shifting. Compliance and internal audit teams can no longer be reactionary. They must be proactive in identifying and monitoring risk. Faced with expanding scope and demand for efficiency, there’s never been a better time to increase control.
I had the opportunity to design a new compliance product from the ground up. I worked very closely with the Product Manager to develop a seamless user experience for maintaining RCMs, managing PBC requests, performing audits such as SOX 302 and 404, and more.

Designed the complete user experience and visual design for Blackline’s upcoming Connector Marketplace.
